Understanding the MicroZine Architecture
All microfiction is welcome at MicroZine
In an effort to make things less complicated we may have overcomplicated things! So, we thought it best if we came clean with what’s happening, where we envision MicroStack to be in the future, and how you can get involved today!
MICROFICTION SUBMISSIONS
First, let’s start with the main point of MicroZine, which is to highlight your stories! The way we intend to do that is to share it right here on MicroZine. We’ll send out email on a bi-weekly or monthly basis (depending on the number of submissions) and it will include your story. And a link to your Substack as well.
To submit your microfiction, simply click the 🟢 in the menu bar on our Home page and fill out the Google form, or click the button below:
What do we accept? You might be asking yourself. Well, ask no more cause we’ll accept any microfiction that follows a few key rules:
Must be more than 6 but no more than 500 words in total. Not including the title.
Any genre is acceptable but we reserve the right not to publish any story that is deemed too violent in content. We ask that you use common sense.
Previously released works. If your submission already appeared somewhere else, including your own Substack or in the comments of someone else’s, we just ask that you disclose that information.
You may submit up to 3 times in any one month. No more than 5 times in one calendar year.
Do not attempt to resubmit something you’ve submitted before that may have been rejected with cause.
MICROZINE MINI-MAGAZINE
An exciting new opportunity presents itself, if we get a considerable amount of submissions. We’d like to turn them into a postcard sized magazine! Due to the size and planning involved, it would be a “build-it-yourself” issue, sent on a quarterly basis. The receiver of the PDF will need a printer in order to create the magazine.
We hope that in the future we’ll be able to make physical copies and offer paid subscriptions for them. But for now, we think this will be an amazing opportunity. All stories that are submitted, and give us consideration permission, will be considered for the quarterly issues! There will be more on MicroZine to come. Including mock-up images, layouts, etc.
THE MICRO-CONTEST
A friendly competition never hurt anyone. And we’re all about friendly competition here at MicroZine! Which is why we offer MicroPrompts for you to exercise and hone your skills in preparation for our contest!
When will the doors open? We’re not at liberty to say at this time. But keep your pencils poised, because it will be happening soon.
READERS WANTED
Lastly, MicroStack wouldn’t exist without the community that exists between writers and readers. We write our stories for the readers! Which is why, as long as you are subscribed, you will receive the following:
Microfiction stories delivered regularly to your inbox.
Voting power in the Micro-Contest.
Exclusive interviews with the best microfiction writers we have to offer.
MicroZine PDF delivered quarterly.
This is a much clearer explanation of the exciting opportunities being offered! (And, as a former EA, I can't resist anything needing some architecture... 😛)
